About “PHAROS CENTRE” for the Prevention and Treatment of Problematic and Pathological Gambling
“PHAROS CENTRE” for the Prevention and Treatment of Problematic and Pathological Gambling, was established under the initiative of CGC, to function as a synergy of the responsible government and non-government bodies for the provision of prevention and treatment where gambling activity has negative effects to those who gamble or their close environment. Moreover, the Centre reflects CGC’s vision and mission to effectively identify and address gambling harm by minimizing the gambling related risks, based on the legislation provisions and its Social Responsibility.
The operations of the Centre function or two pillars: a) The Prevention and Information which are provided by the Gaming and Casino Supervision Commission and b)The support, treatment and counselling which are provided by the National Addictions Authority in Cyprus through KENTHEA which is the operator of the programs.
“PHAROS CENTRE” is located at the Municipality of Agios Athanasios in Limassol, in a specifically selected and formed space provided by the municipality within its Social Responsibility and its’ collaboration with the Cyprus Gaming and Casino Supervision Commission.
Nicosia Development Agency also plays an important role in the management of the project due to future plans for expansion of the works of “PHAROS CENTRE” in Nicosia where the largest satellite casino is located.
